One of the most important things to do in order to give your air conditioning system longevity is change its filter, but how often is it necessary? This is a question that many people have, but unfortunately there isn’t an exact answer. Generally you want to change your AC filter every thirty days, but every home is different so the time frame may vary between changes. It is important to know how often for your own house because if you wait too long to change the filter, the equipment efficiency will deteriorate and the cost of operations will increase. If your filter is changed more often than necessary, you are wasting money on filter costs.
One major factor is dust. The amount of dust in the area you live in directly effects the time frame between filter changes. For example, if your area has more dust, it would be closer to thirty days. Whereas, if the area you live in has less dust, you could wait closer to two months. The keys is, however, that you never want to exceed two months in between filter changes.
In addition to that, the more efficient the air filtration is, the more often it will need to be replaced or cleaned. This is just something to look into when deciphering when to take care of your filter. Again, every system and house is different, so this is just a guideline.
Replacing the air conditioning filter is something you can take care of yourself at home, but it is important to get a professionals opinion on the matter before you do damage to either your AC system or even your pocket. For more information on your AC filter needs, call ProMag Energy Group today at one of our locations close to you;

When the temperatures start to fall here in Florida we may not give a lot of attention to the safety concerns that comes with it. Since we live in the sunshine state, it is easy to forget these things. The first thing that should be done is have ProMag do a full and complete check up on the heating system before you use it. We are trained to find any hazardous problems and keep you safe.

Just as a quick list of a few reminders of what to look out for.

Make sure your batteries are changed in your smoke detectors. It would be a good time to change them in your thermostat too if it so requires.

Install at least one smoke detector on every level of your home and near sleeping areas.

If you have any gas appliances or a fireplace, first install a carbon monoxide detector in your home…

Secondly, make sure the chimney is clear of debris. This can block the exhaust and let carbon monoxide build up inside a home.

Test your heater before it’s too late. If you see smoke coming out your vents it should be checked out immediately. Sometimes this smoke clears up in a few seconds because it may just be dust on the heater but if it comes back, there is a problem.

If you decide to use portable heaters, place space heaters at least three feet away from anything that can burn that includes people, furniture, pets and drapes.

If you smell any unusual odors please shut the heater off immediately.

Be safe and we look forward to seeing you on our next visit.

Why does it make such a difference? First of all, insulation is measured by … Continue reading →

ProMag Energy Group A/c and Heating

Yes, that title is true!! If your attic is properly insulated, your cooling and heating costs will be lower, according to the Energy Star web site. Why does it make such a difference?

First of all, insulation is measured by R-value, the thermal resistance measurement. Therefore, the higher the R-value, the better the thermal resistance, saving you more money. Have a ProMag inspector come out and check your attic insulation to ensure your R-value is at its best potential. High insulation lowers the energy level that you use within your cooling and heating systems in your home, lowering monthly costs, and extending your air conditioning equipment’s life.

Dust Mites
One ounce of dust can contain 42,000 Dust Mites, each one expelling over 20 fecal pellets per day.
THE SOLUTION
Having your air ducts cleaned is just the beginning of your whole home’s air care package. First we thoroughly clean your duct work using a truck mounted vacuum, state-of-the-art duct cleaning equipment. Secondly we sanitize it killing the remaining pests. Third we seal the interior of your duct work which is called “encapsulating”. This cutting edge technology will “seal” the inside of your air ducts to prevent fiberglass particles becoming air borne, prohibits microbial growth and energy savings.
After your ducts are now clean, preventing it from getting dirty again is the next step. We recommend installing hypoallergenic filter media systems. Also the use of ultraviolet lights in the system will kill bacteria, mold spores and viruses.
We at ProMag Energy Group, Inc., offer free estimates on duct cleanings and air
conditioning services. Please call us today to schedule.

Established in 1988 by James D. Harris The PROMAG ENERGY GROUP, INC. of Orlando was first recognized as Professional Air Conditioning and Heat, Magic Air Mechanical Services and Energy Management Systems, offering Air and Heat to Orlando and Central Florida’s Residential, Commercial and Light Industrial HVAC needs. Since the start of the corporation Mr. Harris has continued to provide reasonable and quality service to the Central Florida area with two things in mind, quality and low prices.
In 2003 the companies merged under the name PROMAG ENERGY GROUP, INC. specializing in the same quality service and installation of high efficiency air conditioning and heating equipment as well as providing total comfort for our customer base. As a result of all the continuous hard work PROMAG ENERGY GROUP, INC. has dug deep into the world of total energy management and indoor air quality along with the ultra violet lighting system offered in the air handler equipment. We offer top of the line zoning controls and dampers to perfectly manage the heating and air quality in the living and working quarters.

Mr. Harris further expanded the ac company into “The New Technology Era” and provided it to our customers, by offering total duct and decontamination cleaning. The duct cleaning services are also provided as part of their indoor Air Quality Cleaning Package. In 2004 with our low prices and honest installers the company was able to expand again with the opening of our satellite office in Ft. Pierce, catering to all the HVAC needs now to the southeast region of Florida as well as the central region of the great state of Florida.
In 2011 Mr. Harris opened another satellite office in Haines City to help quickly serve the counties of Polk, Highlands, Hardee and Lake.

We would like to extend an invitation to you to experience the quality Preventative Maintenance and service that we can provide to you as well as the assurance of knowing that the job is done safely and correctly. After all decreasing the high rising of energy consumption and increasing you and your family’s comfort and health is what keeps us growing.

Sincerely, James D. Harris
